ROME: PART ONE

Oh Rome, what a perfect city in every way! If you didn't see my last post, I was in Rome this past weekend with my friend, Gemma; we had an amazing girls weekend full of eating, wine-drinking, shopping, and wandering Roman streets.
Here's a little recap of our first two days!* warning* this post is picture heavy :)
Thursday
We got there around 6 pm and checked in at our Airbnb apartment located in the Trastevere neighborhood. It was an adorable little apartment with a great balcony:

This apartment was perfect for two people. It was so nice to wake up every morning and watch as Rome began its day :)
We went to dinner that night at a local restaurant. Nothing crazy Thursday night because we were tired after traveling:

-The salad turned out to be not so tasty, but the meatballs were amazing! Gemma's pasta was also delicious :)

Friday
We were out the door by 10 a.m for a full day of exploring Rome! We couldn't have asked for better weather.
First stop was the Pantheon! This incredible building was built in A.D 127 by emperor Hadrian and was a temple to the gods. It's in the middle of a busy square and so well preserved. It amazes me how a building that old has survived history so well!

Next up, we wandered over to the Spanish Steps for some gelato and people watching. The steps are one of my favorite places in Rome. It's incredibly relaxing and a great place to take in the city. Be prepared to see couples making out like it's a competition hehe.

My Gelato: Hazelnut, Chocolate chip, coffee

The Pantheon and Spanish Steps were our two main " tourist" stops on Friday. We did a lot of wandering around as we pleased; after all, isn't that what vacation is for? Here are some other pics from Thursday & Friday:

Found this secret garden hidden off a side street!
The first two days were exactly what we needed: relaxing and fun!
Part Two coming on Wednesday!

Xoxo,
Karen

  4. When I went to Rome, our teacher made us get up super early to go see the Spanish steps. When we got there I totally didn't get what the big deal was, now I can appreciate them. Also, that apartment looks so cute! The hotel we stayed in had a bed under the stairs so that's where I slept, Harry Potter style.

    1. Hey Hannah!
It's definitely the magic of everyone sitting out there with their gelato that makes the steps so memorable. The apartment was soo cute, I'd go back in a heartbeat!!
